Do you agree that human beings should be treated as such? That they deserve a decent funeral & memorial?

And – while still alive – that they deserve a good life and equal treatment, according to international human rights? Also if they are Palestinians?

Do you feel helpless watching the horrible images coming from Palestine?

Here are some concrete practical things you can do:

Send the postcard

you have in your hand (or you can download and print from our website) to someone.

Read their names

and stories and dreams. Even a small thing like this, means the world at the moment. Recognize these victims are not numbers. They had family and friends, were loved. They practised sports, studies, excelled in mucic, were doctors or business man. Anything you would expect from normal people. Here is the gallery with some stories. At the moment of writing there are already 20.000 victims. The gallery keeps growing….

Write your representatives

to urge them to call for a cease fire and an equal treatment of Palestinians based on international law.

A boycot

has proven a very effective means for human rights, for example in the decades long struggle against Apartheid in South-Africa. Several South African leaders have stated that the term Apartheid applies to the case of Israel/Palestine. Nelson Mandele said: “We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”
In 2005 the Palestinian Civil Society called for Boycot, Divestment and Sanctions. Read more about the BDS Movement

A very easy but effective way of supporting BDS is to not buy Israeli goods. You can use the app Buycott or the website bdnaash.com or check for the barcode starting with +972.

Write to your media

asking them to publish unbiased.

Support the They Have Names project:

  • Support this project financially so we can continue to print banners and make the victims known and commemorated. If financial resources permit, we might also organise events around the mobile funeral ourselves.
    This is our crowdfunding page.
  • Spread the website to help commemorate the victims and to show the world that people get killed – not numbers.
  • Provide us with stories and pictures of murdered people
  • Order or borrow the banners and organise an event or hang them somewhere visible. If you need inspiration, check ‘Where they were’
  • Share with us content about your event or banner
  • Become a volunteer. With thousands of people killed we need people to gather the stories. If you are interested to participate, write us at theyhavenames.nl@gmail.com

Attend a vigil

or protest or any other type of action. For the Netherlands you can find the overview of protests here.
