90 Mustafa Al-Sawaf Writer and political analyst Mustafa Al-Sawaf was born in the city of Gaza on August 20, 1955. He obtained a bachelor's degree in media from Cairo University in Egypt in 1979. One of the most famous and oldest journalists in the Gaza Strip, he worked as a correspondent and editor for various Palestinian, Arab, and international media outlets, notably as a correspondent for the BBC network. He was also the former bureau chief of Al-Nahar Al-Maqdisiya newspaper in the nineties and the founder and former editor-in-chief of the first daily newspaper published from the Gaza Strip. He said, "I am close to people, their concerns, and their problems. If I praise the resistance, it's because it deserves praise, and if I criticize another side, it's because that's the reality." He and his family were martyred in an Israeli airstrike on their home on November 18, 2023.
